Once in a research area, you will be able to access more specific project areas and project descriptions via the navigation tree on the left side of the browser screen.

Every page includes contact information for the lead SCCWRP scientist in that research area. We encourage you to contact them directly if you have questions or would like additional information on specific topic or research area.

SCCWRP Research

The Southern California Coastal Water Research Project Authority (SCCWRP) is a research institute focusing on the coastal ecosystems of southern California, from watersheds to the ocean. This section of the website provides an overview of the activities SCCWRP scientists are currently or have recently been engaged in.

Projects are organized by research thematic areas, where projects that answer similar questions are grouped together. Each of these research themes play a role in SCCWRP's mission to improve scientific understanding of linkages among human activities, natural events, and the health of the Southern California coastal environment.

In addition to traditional scientific investigations, SCCWRP has also initiated several efforts to coordinate stakeholders and produce more comprehensive regional data on environmental conditions, described under Regional Monitoring. The Information Management section likewise describes essential and innovative projects done to support coastal resources management through data services.
