Dr. John Griffith

John F. Griffith is a microbiologist who specializes in the development and evaluation of methods for the detection, identification and tracking of sources of fecal contamination and pathogens in marine and source water. He received his Ph.D. in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography in 2006 from the University of Southern California. Dr. Griffith joined SCCWRP in September 2001. His present research focuses on microbial source tracking, rapid methods for detection of fecal contamination and pathogens and relationships between water quality indicators and swimming-related illness.
